Name: Natural State Debate Institute

What: Two Week Policy Debate Camp,  featuring: a structured schedule, specific learning focuses, a staff comprised of qualified, Arkansas-natives , students will receive  two tournaments worth of practice rounds, as well as, evidence produced by camp members. They will do all of this in a rigorous, but enjoyable, college atmosphere. Debaters will stay in the dorms of UALR.

Where: University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Little Rock, Arkansas

When: July 1 – July 15 (students will leave the 15th and arrive the 1st)

ACTAA is a professional non-profit organization that serves the students and teachers of Oral Communication, Debate, Forensic Activities, Theatre, and Dance in Arkansas! 

Its purpose shall be to establish oral communication, debate, dance, and theatre art standards and to encourage communication/theatre art education and scholarship on the elementary, secondary, and college and university levels.

 

Mission Statement

 

The Arkansas Communication and Theatre Arts Association

is a community of professionals devoted to the rigorous study and ethical practice of oral

communication, debate, dance, and theatre arts as an essential discipline, life skill, and art form as components of the core curriculum. Through continuing teacher education, student participation, and scholarly publication the association supports the efforts and continued growth of communication and theatre arts teachers, students, and researchers.

ACTAA offers professional development to educators in the areas of, but are not limited to, instructional strategies, lesson plan sharing, building and maintaining a collaborative learning environment, parental involvement, principles of learning, college forums, debate forums, competitive speech forums, curriculum alignment, mentoring/coaching, advocacy and leadership in communication, theatre arts and humanities, and cognitive research.
